News Report - Blossoms of Chinese Contemporary Art in Melbourne

Melbourne is recognised as a major cultural and artistic city within Australia.

The diversity of our significant Chinese community influences the cultural life of Melbournians today. In presenting this unique Exhibition I hope to enhance the appreciation of Chinese Contemporary art today.

While traditional forms of Chinese art are familiar to art patrons in public art collections, access to the work of contemporary Chinese artists in commercial galleries in Melbourne is sometimes more challenging to discover.

Been a practising artist and art curator specialising in contemporary Chinese fine art over the past thirty years, I continue to be inspired by the vibrant art scene in Melbourne and to bring my artistic dreams and aspirations to my dedicated art projects.

I am committed to presenting high calibre contemporary Chinese fine art Exhibitions to further enrich the artistic culture of this inspiring city.

In association with Vermillion Art, the Sydney based gallery, which is also dedicated to representing contemporary Chinese art, I am proud to present this eclectic exhibition in Melbourne, featuring 14 prominent contemporary Chinese and Chinese-Australian artist in August/September 2024.

墨尔本是澳洲的文化艺术之都。华人庞大的人口数量所带来的文化的多元性，深刻影响着墨尔本人的生活。但，衣食住行的彼此融合，并不代表本地人（包括华人本身）对中国当代艺术认知的拓展。这里，可以定期观看中国当代艺术作品的机会和场地，少之又少，大众对此的了解程度自然也相对有限。

葡萄牙诗人Fernando Pessoa写过一句话：“有些人把他们不能实现的生活，变成一个伟大的梦。而有些人连梦都没有。”（韩少功译）

作为有着中国背景并在墨尔本文化艺术领域沉浮三十年的艺术家、策展人，我希望成为那个造梦者。

我愿意将我所能接触到的高质量的中国当代艺术作品，尽可能多地以专业展览的形式，让他们走进墨尔本的艺术世界中。

有幸，悉尼的专注于中国当代艺术的朱雀画廊Vermillion Art愿意和我一起，成就这次在墨尔本集合了十四位重量级中国当代及华裔澳洲艺术家的联展。
