Echo CAI


Echo Cai is an artist, curator and columnist. She is the founder and curator of CACA, Chinese-Australian Contemporary Artists; also the founder of Art Echo Pty Ltd & Foundation.


Echo graduated from Peking University with Bachelor Degree of Art in Beijing, China, in 1988. She relocated to Melbourne in Australia in 1989.


In 2000, Echo met her mentor Hong Fu, a highly commended Chinese-Australian artist, and started her art journey. From 2003 till 2018, Echo won multiple awards around Australia, ran numerous solo and group exhibitions. Her art works are popularly collected in Australia and China.


As Echo is also a published writer and a columnist, she found more appeal in a contemporary style and has experimented with presenting her creations in different art forms. Her multimedia art work < Echo’s Visual Diaries > was presented in the International Festival of Literature, Ideas & Translation, in Federation Square in Melbourne, 2012.


Echo curated 15 multi-art events and exhibitions in Melbourne during 2014 – 2018, besides CACA group exhibitions, they included: ‘2017 Chinese Australian Artists Exhibition’; ‘This Street’ Art Event of 2017 Mapping Melbourne Art Festival, in Testing Ground; ‘Multi Art Fashion Show’, Meat Market, 2016; ‘Melbourne Chinese Australian Short Movie Competition’2015.
